Autumn Tag 2018

I’ve never done a tag post before, but there’s a first time for everything! My friend Fox tagged me in an Autumn Tag post last week. I recommend you hightail it over to their blog for some positive tips on self care and mental health.

1) What signifies the start of Autumn to you?

The first box of Throat Coat Tea purchase. I love Autumn, but I’m just being real. Also people getting up in arms over all the Pumpkin Spice things. Just let people like what they like. *shrug*

2) Best way to spend a rainy day?

Baking pies and reading books.

3) Your most favourite Autumn memory?

Not to be sappy, but probably my “wedding” day 5 years ago in October. We eloped at 8 in the morning at the Japanese Tea Garden. It was a rainy day, but the rain was kind and stopped long enough for us to have our private ceremony. We were still steeped in toxic evangelicalism at the time, bless our hearts, but this relationship has been one of the most positive things in my life that has given me space to question all of the things and ultimately break up with American Christianity. I love my spouse and when words fail and life sucks I am glad to have him by my side.

4) Favourite fall scent?

Rainy day air and the smell of holiday baking.

5) What are you most excited about this Autumn?

I think Halloween. I love it because Morgan’s Wonderland has a great event every year called More Delightful Than Frightful which makes Halloween festivities for kids like mine more sensory friendly and inclusive.

6) Favourite Autumn song?

Not sure about song, but my favorite album to listen to in Autumn is the Make Yourself At Home EP by The Starting Line. It’s kind of become a nostalgic tradition for me. I bought it with my birthday money when I turned 15 and I have been listening to it every Autumn since, 15 years later.

7) Favourite Autumn film?

Wow this is hard, but I am going to go with You’ve Got Mail. In case you haven’t figured it out, I love New York.

8) What TV shows are you looking forward to this fall?

This Fall I am enjoying This is Us, Speechless, Criminal Minds, and I am coming around to God Friended Me although I honestly just watch it for the cameos from some of my favorite Broadway people.

9) Favourite Autumn colour?

Mustard yellow. I love it so much I painted my downstairs walls that color so I can have it year round.

10) Favourite fall fashion trend?

Probably beanies/slouchy hats. I live in Texas where we hardly get to see Autumn in all its glory the way it is meant to be experienced so some of the otherwise Fall fashion trends aren’t sensible to wear here because  h e a t.

11) Your most loved outdoor Autumn activity?

Probably just walking outside. It may not look much like Autumn here but it is nice to be able to enjoy the outdoors without sweating.

I am going to tag…

Sasha, Mel, and Tori. No pressure to participate, if any of you are reading this, but I am just in awe of y’all and would really love to see more of your words out in the world and for anyone reading this to discover you. *wink*

What do you like about Autumn?

  1. I love these answers! I still listen to The Starting Line as well, and it makes me think of being a teen. You reminded me about You’ve Got Mail, I absolutely adore that film and think I need to give it another watch! Thanks for sharing!
